Unwrap the Bible Conference

I'm not sure how long it's been since I've had a girls getaway weekend but it has been a while. I recently met up with some friends of mine for Women of Faith's Unwrap the Bible in Houston and what a phenomenal time we had. I made new friends, caught up with some old ones, and most importantly came home inspired and refueled. 

I'm so grateful to my BFF, Vanessa Elmore and her mom, Deborah Gonzales (pictured above/bottom left). They graciously hosted me on this trip and joined me for all the fun!

Guest speakers for this event included: Beth Moore, Lisa Harper, Priscilla Shirer, Sheila Walsh, and Christine Caine. I fell in love with worship leader Kari Jobe as she ushered us into God's presence; she is one passionate individual!

Beth Moore kicked off the conference with a passage from Genesis 16:1-16, the story of Hagar. Here are some of my favorite quotes from that night:

- God is not afraid of your questions.

- "Where have you come from" intersects with "where are you going." (vs. 8)

- Going back to the same location doesn't mean going back to the same place.

Priscilla Shirer was my favorite. I've never read her books, done her studies, or heard her speak live but her words caught my attention. She spoke from the passages of John 20:30-31; John 2:1-11. The following quotes gave me some good food for thought:

- God doesn't call us to do the hard stuff he calls us to do the impossible stuff.

- Change your view of who your God is!

- Signs are designed to point you in the right direction.

- We have to believe that he will be for us what we cannot be for ourselves.

- It turns out that running out is your prefix to running into him.(John 2:1-11; water into wine)

- In our lives the primary way we are going to see Jesus is in our times when we need him.

- Instead of asking God to get you out of a scenario you should be waiting and asking him to meet you there.

- Don't try to make sense of what God is asking you to do, just do it!

Of course every good trip should end on a sweet note so we made a trip to Crave for some cupcakes and coffee.
